About Us

Aamodts’ Apple Farm is a favorite family destination for fresh Minnesota apples and fall fun. Our sweet and juicy Honeycrisp apples are a seasonal treat! Pick your own, or purchase your favorite apple varieties inside our nostalgic apple barn.

Harry S. Truman was president. The average American family earned $2,950 a year. Gas cost 16 cents a gallon. Just a few years post-World War II, young families were filled with optimism and ambition. It was a great time to start something new. For Thor and Lucille Aamodt, the America Dream meant starting their own family-run apple orchard. They purchased a pretty piece of land near Stillwater, Minnesota, that seemed to have just the right soil and climate for growing crisp, juicy apples. And even then, it was just a short scenic drive from Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Thor and Lucille put everything they had into the apple farm. With some seedling apple trees, a well-thought out plan for planting, help from young son Tom, and a lot of prayers, Aamodt’s Apple Farm was born.

A few decades down the road, Tom and his wife, JoAnn, expanded the farm to include over 6,000 apple trees covering more than 50 acres.

Today, the apple farm is run by the third and fourth generations of Aamodt apple growers. Tom’s son, Chris Aamodt, now runs the orchard, along with his wife Billi Jo and sons Andreas, Christopher and Geoffrey and also daughter Laura.  The youngest Aamodts will help out, too, once they’ve grown a bit.

Kids have enjoyed coming here the last few years. They enjoy the fun activities and the apple picking. We enjoy bringing home apples and tasty treats. Will be back again.

Great place to visit on beautiful late summer days! Enjoy an apple brat, or my personal favorite, a Charlie's brat - topped with fresh made apple slaw, bleu cheese crumbles & bacon bits. Finish the bite to eat with apple cider donuts or popcorn & a Thor's hard cider (made from Aamodt's apples of course!). Pick your own apples off the trees or bag your own inside & don't pass on their apple butter, it's delicious! Of the orchards in the area I've visited, this one is hands down the best!

Love the apple picking and all the other activities for the kids. The old barn also has some awesome shopping for the mama's. Honey sticks, apple cotton candy, apple salsa, apple brats... What else could you want? There is also lots of room for the kids to run!

Busy Saturday morning and staff were friendly and helpful. Really enjoy the apple brats, apple donuts and cider. Tried pazazz apples for the first time and had to buy a bag in addition to sweet tango and honey crisp (our regular faves). Thor's hard cider was great!
