Our Story:

In October 1984 we bought a piece of property in the Upper Ojai Valley just 6 miles from Santa Paula, California. Steve sat at the kitchen table and designed the plans for our beautiful farmhouse. We bought a Painted Pony for our kids and they named her "Sky". We lived in a single wide trailer for 3 years while we built our house, making sure we did not leave out any of the details that we wanted in our farmhouse. In a short time we began acquiring some farm animals and before we knew it we had a barnyard full of goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits and ducks. Steve was teaching first grade and wanted to bring his class to the farm on a field trip. Well, word spread and children from Ventura and Los Angeles counties have spent part of their day with us. In the past 27 years we have welcomed over 100,000 school children to experience a day on the farm. Parents began asking us to develop a summer program for their kids and that same year our daycamp was born. Now some of our original  campers are in their 30's. Our children (Ashley and Nick) still come to their farm often.  Ashley now lives in  historical Santa Paula  and works for Patagonia. She is busy with her photography and stays hard at work with creative projects all year long. Nick has been living in Boston, Mass with his wife, Meg while attending North Eastern University working towards completing his PhD in Marine Biology. We are a very close family and our family farm is a special part of our lives. We hope to share our hard work and knowledge with all that visit our farm. We look forward to meeting new friends of the farm and sharing our love of agriculture with all who make their way to The Painted Pony Farm
